SHRAB Guide Book

Saturday: Working Session

Speakers

Summary
State archives and libraries across the country have been asking for updated guidance on how to run a State Historical Records Advisory Board, and our group is happy to say that help is on the way! Illinois, Tennessee, Utah, and Vermont SHRAB coordinators and their boards have teamed up to write the by-SHRAB, for-SHRAB guide book on how to run a successful SHRAB. The draft of this guide is organized by the four programming categories listed in the NHPRC State Board Programming Grant; Administration, Regranting, Professional Development, and Consultation Services. Each of these sections will provide general guidance on a variety of programming within each category along with specific examples of programs from current active SHRABs. However, a document like this requires feedback from its intended audience to ensure that it is meeting their needs. In this mini working session, we will discuss the draft of the How to SHRAB Guide, and edit the document together. If you are thinking about starting a SHRAB, reconstituting a dormant SHRAB, or are running a successful SHRAB already, bring your laptop along and share your experiences with the editors; let’s make sure this guide is answering every SHRAB’s burning questions.
