CoSA Board of Directors conducts mid-year meeting
Salt Lake City, Utah - Though disrupted during COVID, CoSA continued its long-standing tradition of holding a mid-year, in-person board meeting, which was resumed in 2024. This year, the Board of Directors coordinated their March meeting with the massive FamilySearch-sponsored RootsTech conference, allowing for exploration of our 2025 Annual Meeting hotel, the Utah State Archives, and Salt Lake City.
The board spent time discussing member needs and CoSA's capacity to deliver on them, walking through several scenario planning activities. As a nonprofit organization, CoSA adheres closely to its mission. Education, research, and advocacy are central activities of the mission, and we continue seeking the best ways to fulfill our strategic goals in an increasingly complex world. Through generous hosting support by FamilySeach, the Board also enjoyed several facility tours and the opportunity to meet a variety of archivists and genealogists attending the ARC Symposium and RootsTech.
The Board took the following actions during the meeting, March 5-6, 2025:
- Adopted the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
- Approved revised Statement on the Essential Characteristics of the Archivist of the United States
- Revised and approved Travel Reimbursement Policy
- Revised and approved Code of Conduct
- Revised and approved Event Data Disclosure Agreement
- Revised and approved Event Refund Policy
After a productive meeting, the Board is looking forward to connecting to members soon through their annual Calls to the Members, launching the 2025 CoSA Awards Program, and opening registration for the 2025 Annual Meeting.
