Iowa’s SHRAB was originally established in 1976 and today operates under Iowa law and in accordance with the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) regulations as a function of the State Historical Society of Iowa Board of Trustees. The seven member board currently serves as the central advisory body for historical records planning in the state, a coordinating body to facilitate cooperation among historical records repositories and other Iowa information agencies and as a review body for grant proposals.
